MEET KATE KOLSTAD
PRESIDENT, WILD ROSE GLOBAL EXPORTS LTD.
Kate Kolstad has more than 30 years of experience exporting livestock, embryos, semen and related production technology around the world. Her passion for the cattle industry is rooted in her childhood, having grown up on a 12,000 acre (4,850 ha) beef cattle ranch in southern Alberta, Canada.
Kate graduated from Olds College in 1984 with a diploma in Animal Health Technology. She began her export career in 1986 working for Davis-Rairdan Embryo Transplants as an embryo technician and went on to manage numerous large international embryo and live animal export projects for cattle, sheep and goats while employed by Alta Genetics Inc. from 1994 to 2000.
Kate co-founded Alta Exports International Ltd. (AEI) in 2000 with the company’s focus on exporting quality Canadian beef and dairy genetics. During the next 16 years AEI exported more than 20,000 head of live cattle and over 10,000 embryos to Mexico, Colombia, USA, China, Russia and Kazakhstan. AEI was awarded “Exporter of the Year” in 2009 by Export Development Canada / Canadian Profit magazine.
Kate established Wild Rose Global Exports Ltd. in 2016 and continues to focus on exporting Canadian livestock genetics and technologies. Wild Rose supports their clients around the world with a wide range of expertise. This includes expert advice for the development of farms, the sourcing, selection and transport of cattle, embryos, equipment and technology transfer and follow up support for nutrition, herd health, reproduction management and best practices farm management.
