Live Animal and Embryo Exports/Imports

Russia

2006 to 2008: Exported over 8,000 Beef Embryos (Angus, Limousin, Simmental and Hereford) to Samara, Tver, Krasnodar, and Chelyabinsk
2007 to 2012: AEI received the first import permit for cattle from North America to Russia, during the Minister Gordeyev’s visit to Ottawa, Canada, March 2007
AEI exported over 15,000 head of beef and dairy cattle to Tber, Tatarstan, Yaroslavl, Lipetsk and Ryazan by sea and air

China

1996 to 2003: Exported thousands of beef and dairy cattle to Beijing, Shandong, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, Jilin
1999: Exported 2000 beef and dairy embryos to Beijing
1999: Alta Genetics Inc. presented the Holstein bull “Alta Dragon” to the Prime Minister of China, Zhu Rongji, during his visit to Calgary in 1999. Alta Dragon was a gift to the People’s Republic of China and was housed at the Beijing Breeding Center once arriving in China. China had just started their “Milk Program” to children in school, and this was the beginning of the Chinese people consuming milk in their everyday diets.

Kazakhstan

2007: AEI received the first live cattle import permit granted by the Kazakhstan government for live cattle. AEI exported 1,500 Holstein heifers the summer of 2007 on seven 747 Aircraft to Astana. Buyers, Zenchenko Farms and Rodina Farms
2014: Exported 400 head of Polled Herefords and Red Angus to Almaty for delivery to Kordai

Mexico

1995 to 2003: Exported 800 purebred beef cattle (Charolais, Limousin, Braunvieh, Pinzauger, Simmental) to Jalisco
1995 to 2000: 200 head to Durango
2000 to 2002: Exported 3,500 beef breeding bulls (Angus, Hereford, Limousin, Charolais, Salers) to the Union Ganadera de Chihuahua
2017: Exported 55 head of Red Angus cattle to Durango

South Africa

1994: Coordinated the import and implantation of 6,000 Boer Goat embryos
1996: Coordinated the import, implantation and sale of 1,500 Dorper Sheep embryos
1996 to 2004: Coordinated the importation and implantation of approximately 1,000 Bonsmara embryos in Canadian into commercial Angus recipients and exported the pregnant ones to Amarillo, Texas
1995: Imported cattle breed embryos on Tuli, Simmental and Braunvieh

Brazil

1996 to 2000: Exported Live Boar goats, Doper sheep and Black Headed Persian sheep, to Fortaleza
1996: Exported Limousin cattle to Londrina

Colombia

1999 to 2003: Exported 400 registered Red Angus cattle

Australia

1996: Importation of the First Lowline Cattle to North America (6 heifers) (now called Aberdeens in the US)
